Across the country, family court systems face growing challenges in protecting the rights and safety of families, especially in cases involving domestic abuse. While these systems are designed to act in the best interests of children, they are often overburdened and under-resourced, which can leave survivors without the protection they need.

Mommy’s Heart, Inc. (EIN #87-4833078) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to safeguarding child safety and defending the constitutional rights of fit parents. We offer free, trauma-informed legal, mental health, and advocacy services to families who have survived abuse and are now navigating legal retaliation in the form of high-conflict litigation, sometimes referred to as “lawfare.” Our services support the due process rights of vulnerable parents and children while promoting informed, balanced outcomes in family court. We help ensure that no parent fears losing a child for seeking protection from abuse.

In addition to direct services, Mommy’s Heart advocates for family court reforms that promote transparency, uphold constitutional protections, and ensure the system functions as it was intended to protect the best interests of children and families. We believe that a just legal process should be accessible to all, regardless of financial means, and that parents should never be punished for doing the right thing.

Abusers easily exploit family courts' vulnerabilities through unrestricted filings, false claims, and endless battles, while the system enables this abuse through financial incentives that profit from prolonged litigation. Many families report being trapped in never-ending court hearings and legal fees, leading countless innocent children to be separated from loving parents and placed in harm's way.

Please read and support our groundbreaking legislation in New York State (A01154/S6825), introduced by Assembly Member Rebecca Seawright and sponsored by Senator Cordell Cleare that directly targets loopholes abusers exploit to discredit protective parents and gain custody. Our bill deters abusers, protects survivors, and prevents retaliatory misuse of the legal system by requiring courts to prioritize child safety. Starting at the state level, Mommy's Heart advances national and global solutions to what ranks as one of history’s greatest human rights violations of this era.
